FEED THE MUSIC FOOD DRIVE | 4-H AT THE LOFT
Who We Are
The LOFT is a not-for-profit organization funded by donations from community members. Our goal is to build relationships through which we help people live better lives.
Up to This Point
Since the opening of the LOFT March 2010; we have seen great prgress in reaching the downtown Springfield community. It is amazing to see the people who come weekly. Children, teens and adults have made the LOFT a weekly part of their lives.
When the LOFT began we were excited to reach around 12 people weekly with the offering of refreshments, music and building relationships. Now a year later, we consistently see 30 to 40 people a week. Over half of those are children and teens. We have since added group activities for the children and a bible study for anyone that would like to participate.
August 22nd, 2010 the LOFT organized a city-wide food drive called Feed The Music. The event took place in Jordan Valley Park. We hosted two bands, a comedian, had about 40 volunteers, 9 gift giving sponsors and were able to partner with 100.5 The Wolf. We raised almost 500 pounds of food and $138 in cash, which we divided between Crosslines and the Kitchen.
November 2010 we gathered names, coat and shoe sizes from Campbell Elementary and Boys and Girls Club to put on our Giving Tree. With the help of the community we were able to collect coasts and shoes form 113 children in the downtown Springfield area.
What is in the Future for the LOFT
The last few months has really opened our eyes to the need in the downtown Springfield area for a safe, wholesome environment for children and teens to go to on a regular basis.
In the 2011 year we are looking to go to two nights a week in Springfield, with the long term goal of being full-time in 2012. This will allow us to offer so many opportunities to help the community. One of the ways we will be doing this is by addina a 4-H program at the LOFT. This 4-H program will begin April 11th each Monday from 4 to 6 p.m.
